Summary:
Responsible for overseeing and participating in the development and execution of Silane technology research and development projects
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Develop vision for the future of Silane technology and develop and keep evergreen strategies for pursuing that vision as part of the overall technology vision and strategy program
Define and execute basic and applied product & process technology development projects selected for funding by the Portfolio management Process, ensuring that they are properly resourced, that they are avoiding inter-project conflicts and taking advantage of opportunities for synergistic collaboration
Provide quality assurance for research and development (R&D) activities, ensuring that the R&D gated process is employed and that appropriate means are used for verifying findings
Produce appropriate documentation to provide a knowledge archive, design bases for capital projects, operating guides for plant operations, and intellectual property management and this includes developing and maintaining evergreen Definitions of Technology (DOTs) for best available technologies
Encourage generation of new ideas and capture appropriate novel ideas for consideration under the Intellectual Property Management Process
Working with the Intellectual Assets Manager, maintain an awareness of competing technologies and competitors intellectual property to identify competitive threats and to avoid freedom to operate conflicts
Provide representation on project teams for projects based on technology developed within the group
Assist in the identification, analysis of alternatives and selection of technologies to be acquired from third parties
Ensure that technologies acquired from third parties is properly documented, transferred, understood and deployed
Participate in the selection of Engineering Service Providers to silane technology development projects and vet all related contracts to ensure that they include well defined scopes of work, divisions of responsibility, deliverables and other important instructions/expectations
Operate pilot plants in accordance with the company manufacturing excellence and process safety management guidelines
Provide input, analysis and problem-solving support for plant operations
Provide quality assurance in transfer of robust new processes or products to Operations including ICCM documentation
Provide technical service support as needed in support of customers product qualification and troubleshooting
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering and five (5) to ten (10) years technology development activities in a related industry, with at least 2 leading this effort; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Advanced Degree in Science or Engineering is desired
Working knowledge of business, particularly with respect to assessing technology program economics and justification
Experience in budgeting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general understanding of formatting rules are essential
High proficiency in the use of the MS Excel and/or MathCad or similar software
Working knowledge of Plant Data Historian (PI) and chemical process modeling software (HYSYS) desired
In depth knowledge and understanding of the Silane technology preferred
An appreciation of the value of Intellectual Property (IP) and a demonstrated commitment to capturing and protecting novel ideas and developments, in addition to the ability to assess the competitive IP landscape
Proven ability to identify promising approaches to develop targeted technology and for devising experimental programs to develop and prove them
Demonstrated commitment to good documentation of proposal, results, DOTs, invention notices and similar issues/content
Demonstrated aptitude for leading/motivating/managing technical personnel
Ability to accept and resolve organizational and execution related dilemmas
Excellent understanding of project management as it relates to technology development programs
Disciplined approach to utilizing established technology development processes, establishing meaningful development objectives, forming technology development teams, and tracking progress and results
Train, coach and otherwise nurture group personnel to maintain and improve their skills and their value to the company
Provide real-time coaching and advice to help subordinates resolve challenging situations
Develop and manage departmental annual budget and approve all expense reports
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Willingness to travel to support project execution and/or operations. The employee will regularly perform job duties inside the production units which is an indoor/outdoor manufacturing environment and be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will regularly be exposed to high, precarious places, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
